Monoprints are created in much the same fashion as monotypes, but they use a plate that contains a matrix or design that is incorporated into each print. The unique quality of each monoprint tends to come from the handling by the artist. For example, an artist might change the colors of the ink, or the layout of the print while still employing the original plate. This can result in each print in multiple unique prints with some common elements.
